Dear Friends in Faith,
Some Questions for Those Who Take the Bible Seriously
In the first verse of 1 Timothy, Paul refers to God as “our Saviour,” and he gives attention throughout the letter to this theme of God’s work of saving sinners. Here are some questions people often ask about salvation which appear to be answered in this letter:
What purpose did Christ have for coming into this world?
Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all welcome, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. (1 Tim.1:15)

Since everyone is a sinner, does this mean Christ Jesus came into our world to save everybody?
I am entreating, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, pleadings, thanksgiving be made for all mankind, . . . for this is ideal and welcome in the sight of our Saviour, God, Who wills that all mankind be saved and come into a realization of the truth. (1 Tim.2:1-4)

What did Christ Jesus do in order to carry out God’s will to save all?
For there is one God, and one Mediator of God and mankind, a Man, Christ Jesus, Who is giving Himself a correspondent Ransom for all. (1 Tim.2:5,6)

Then, will God’s will to save all mankind be realized?
Faithful is the saying and worthy of all welcome (for for this are we toiling and being reproached), that we rely on the living God, Who is the Saviour of all mankind, especially of believers. (1 Tim.4:9,10)

Since we do not hear many Christians teaching what Paul says in these verses, shouldn’t we be quiet about these things?
These things be charging and teaching. (1 Tim.4:11)

We are looking forward to the meetings in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario, August 15-17 and then the fellowship at the Klinger home near Eaton Rapids, Michigan, on September 6. (Phone us for further details.)
Together with Jim Coram at the Concordant Publishing Concern, we are preparing some reprints of tracts by Joseph E. Kirk. We are also hoping to come up with some new tracts. The following is a first attempt for a series of connective thoughts from the Scriptures on the subject of God’s purpose for all mankind which might be especially helpful for handing out to pastors and Bible teachers. What do you think?

Yours in God’s Grace,
Dean Hough and Tony Nungesser
